Casa Tersalle is a 300-year-old ‘casa colonica’ – the Italian name for a traditional farmhouse – which offers guests comfortable, reasonably priced accommodation in a stunningly beautiful and easily accessible part of Italy. In fact, Umbria is a region known as “The Green Heart of Italy” and it still remains a largely unspoilt part of the country. The convenient location of Casa Tersalle offers the possibility of staying in the countryside while at the same time being close to amenities such as shops and restaurants as well as the many historical, artistic and cultural sights of Umbria and Tuscany.

The farmhouse forms part of a small, quiet hamlet and is situated in the stunningly beautiful, tranquil countryside of Umbria in central Italy. It lies in the northern part of Umbria, close to the border with Tuscany.
The accommodation is easily reached from numerous airports – Perugia, Bologna, Rimini, Florence, Pisa, Ancona, Rome. (See also Where page.) The other house in the hamlet is occupied by a friendly local Italian family who farm the surrounding land.
Experience the real Italy in Umbria…
Casa Tersalle is an ideal choice if you are looking for simple, comfortable accommodation in the Italian countryside, somewhere to relax and enjoy a taste of the natural beauty and the many sights that Umbria has to offer. If you enjoy nature and walking, there are plenty of possibilities in the area, superb panoramic views and an abundance of wildlife to enjoy.

Within easy reach of the accommodation, in addition to the many attractive mediaeval hilltop villages of Umbria and Tuscany, there is Italian culture, art and tradition to be found in towns and cities of Umbria and Tuscany such as Assisi, Perugia, Orvieto, Arezzo, Siena, Cortona and Florence, to name but a few.

Comfort and character…
We (the New Zealand/English owners, Rob and Jane) bought Casa Tersalle in 1988 after a ‘let’s change our life’ moment. We travelled to Italy from the UK in our old van, fell in love with the area and decided to settle here – all in the space of 2 weeks! We subsequently moved in and then had the accommodation carefully restored, with an eye to retaining the original Umbrian farmhouse character: ceilings with exposed wooden beams, tiled floors, wooden shutters, open fireplace and woodburning stoves are among the features. At the same time we incorporated modern facilities and comforts in the kitchen and bathrooms to fit in with present-day living standards. All the rooms of the accommodation are light, spacious and fully furnished in a simple but comfortable manner.
Some time later we restored the animal stalls and we now live where 20 cattle formerly resided!
Relax…

There is a large, sunny, south-facing terrace where you can sit and relax, eat, drink, chat and generally while away the time while taking in the magnificent views of the surrounding fields and a small lake, with a backdrop of green wooded hills. Then in the evening you can sit under the stars and watch the fireflies dance…
There is also a small garden below the terrace. Garden furniture, sun umbrellas and a barbecue are provided. NB – If you enjoy painting, don’t forget your pad and colours – this is the ideal spot.

Cooling off…
In 2010 we installed a plunge pool (3.5 m diam / 75 cm deep) in the garden, offering a great opportunity for both children and adults to cool off on hotter summer days (available for period mid-May to mid-October approx). It is fully fenced for child security.
